Survival Railway Network
Project
TypeMajor Project

The Survival Railway Network (SRN) is a player-run organisation with the goal to construct and maintain a network of railways across the Survival Multiplayer worlds on Dogcraft.net.[1]

Since its founding in 2016, the organization has successfully constructed networks across the original Survival world as well as the the Survival 2 world and now is focusing on the construction of railway on the new Survival 3 world.

Links to each individual network are below:

  • SRN (Survival 1)

  • SRN (Survival 3)

Origins

The original Survival Railway Network on the Survival world was built to satisfy the growing demand for a public transportation system. Mr_Dawgie and _edo, both predominant builders in the worlds' Spawn City at the time, first built Spawn Station and this served as the starting point for an expansive network that spanned the world.[2]

Shortly after the establishment of the new railway network, a sister project to the SRN known as the NTN, or Nether Transport Network, began to establish a communal means of rapid transit on the server through the use of boat-on-ice tracks in the Nether.

Nether Transport Network

The Nether Transport Network (NTN) is the nether-based counterpart to the Survival Railway Network, which is based on hyper-speed transportation using the mechanic of boats placed on packed ice to get around quickly. Just like the SRN, the NTN can be accessed from a variety of locations across the server and is present on Survival 1, Survival 2 and Survival 3.

Many SRN stations in both worlds have connecting NTN stations allowing for flexible transport between destinations.

Networks

The SRN and NTN has constructed and continues to build three networks of railway and nether tunnel in all major Survival worlds. The networks are widely considered by players to be one of the most impressive feats on the server and between them span hundreds of thousands of blocks.

Each network is structured cardinally; in a 'plus shape', with four lines expanding outward from a central station. From the stations, additional secondary lines built by base owners carry players directly to player bases.

Management

East Station on the Survival 3 network.

The Survival Railway Network, formerly managed by _edo, is now led by conductor darparniox and individual railway lines are managed by four Line Managers. Each Line Manager is responsible for the construction and maintenance of their railway lines, NTN tracks as well as taking on the duty of building each station.
